Zechariah 14:9

And the LORD shall be king over all the earth: in that day shall there be one LORD, and his name one.

This poor old world has suffered much at the hands of despots, dictators and worldly kings, such as Napoleon, Hitler, Stalin, etc. Their only goal was to exalt themselves with no regard for the wellbeing, comfort and tranquility of their subjects. But our verse for today tells us of a time when God Himself will reign over all the earth from His throne in Jerusalem, and every knee shall bow, and every tongue confess that Jesus is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. All the murder, all the cheating, lying, stealing, and cursing will be restrained and for the first time in the history of the world there will be peace and blessing during the millennial reign of the Lord. We have a description of those days in Habakkuk 2:14. “For the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the LORD, as the waters cover the sea.”
