Ecclesiastes 12:13

Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.

Solomon here sums up his discourse about life in the book of Ecclesiastes. He says that IT ALL BOILS DOWN TO THIS: “Fear God, and keep his commandments”. But since we have all sinned and failed in our whole duty, WHAT ARE WE TO DO? God is not an indulgent parent raising spoiled children,(which is a plague in our present era). He MUST and WILL punish wrong-doing and sin; but since He also is loving and merciful, HE PROVIDED A WAY for us to receive pardon for our sins by sending His only begotten Son to suffer in our stead and to pay the penalty for us so that whosoever believes in Him and receives Him as Savior SHALL NOT PERISH but have everlasting life. THEN, we follow Him and keep his commandments which is the whole duty of man. THEN your eyes are opened to A WHOLE NEW LIFE.
