Psalms 30:5

Psalms 30:5
For his anger endureth but a moment; in his favour is life: weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.
When Jonathon Edwards preached a sermon on “Sinners In the Hands of an Angry God”, he painted a horrible picture of the punishment of all those who refuse salvation, make light of the Gospel and never commit themselves to Christ. But this anger is toward those who refuse the suffering Savior who shed His blood for our sins; God is a kind, heavenly Father to those that know Christ; merciful, longsuffering, loving, patient and forgiving. But SOMETIMES He must chastise His children, and the rod of affliction can be very heavy. Paul tells us not to faint when our heavenly Father punishes us for our disobedience. 2 Corinthians 4:17 says “For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory.” In this dark world of pain, sin, and suffering, let us focus on the last words of today’s verse; “Weeping may endure for an night, but JOY COMETH IN THE MORNING.” Even so, come Lord Jesus. Amen.
