Deuteronomy 6:5
And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.
Jesus is altogether lovely, and He said “I and my Father are one”. God is completely merciful, loving, and kind, and altogether deserving of our complete reverence, service, love and devotion. In proportion as we are GOOD, in that proportion we will love God. In proportion as we are unkind, disobedient, lustful, and evil, to that degree we will avoid the Lord and desire to have ABSOLUTELY no contact or dealings with Him. This explains why so many people can live out a complete lifetime without ever desiring to know God through His Son Jesus Christ. Jesus is “THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD”, John 8:12. But “men loved darkness rather than light, BECAUSE THEIR DEEDS WERE EVIL”. Jesus said, “Ye will not come to me, that ye might have life”. John 5:40. God SO loved us, that He gave us His Son. We should respond to His love, that we might have life.
