John 15:13

Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.

The great gospel hymn says: “O Love of God, how rich and pure, how measureless and strong; it shall forever more endure, the saints and angels song.” We can have no concept of the MEASURELESS LOVE OF GOD that conceived the plan of salvation that required the death and suffering of His well beloved and only begotten Son. Nor can we comprehend the ETERNAL LOVE OF JESUS, the Son of God, that impelled Him to leave His throne of Glory, come down to this wretched world of selfish, ungodly, rebellious sinners and endure the insults, the mocking and the excruciating agony of the crucifixion. God’s plan of salvation was THE ONLY WAY for us sinners to be reconciled to God, but it required the sacrifice of God’s beloved Son. The angels must BE STILL WONDERING AT THE LOVE that Jesus had for us that made Him willing to go to the cross and to lay down his life for us. “Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.” How do you respond to His love?
