Romans 13:8
Owe no man any thing, but to love one another: for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the law.
Paul is simply telling us not to borrow. This is wisdom for a household and it is wisdom for a nation. We have become a nation of borrowers. This is true in our personal finances and in our national economy and THE CONSEQUENCES ARE DISASTROUS. How plain the Word of God is. How we suffer when we take no heed to the Word. A family that spends a little less that it earns each year is a happy family. One that spends a little more than it earns has problems. This is true whether the income is great or small. Spend more than you earn and YOU HAVE MISERY. If you earn one million dollars in a year and you spend one million plus ten thousand, you are on the way to eventual ruin. If a government cranks up the printing presses and creates paper money with nothing to back it up there will be economic chaos and national consternation, SOONER OR LATER. It reminds me of an old sermon, I believe it was by R. G. Lee; PAYDAY SOMEDAY. As Christians, (or just as people with common sense) let us live within our means and set a little aside. OWE NO MAN ANYTHING. Love one another, for love is the fulfilling of the law.
