2 Timothy 1:7

For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

Fear paralyzes. A person who is afraid will attempt very little, but the Bible says that “the righteous are bold as a lion.” Proverbs 28:1. This is because we dwell in Him and “perfect love casts out fear.” 1 John 4:18. It is easy to drift into fearfulness as we see the changes in our society, values, governmental policies, etc., but sheltered under the wings of Him who loved us and gave Himself for us, we face these things with faith and serenity, knowing that our heavenly Father sees everything that is taking place, that He knows the end from the beginning, and that He is working all things after the counsel of His own perfect will. God has given to us the spirit of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. Remember, “All things work together for good to them that love God, to them that are the called according to His purpose.” Romans 8:28. The Christian that is worried, jittery and anxious needs to spend time in the presence of the Father, because “There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear.” 1 John 4:18.
