Lamentations 3:24

Lamentations 3:24
The LORD is my portion, saith my soul; therefore will I hope in him.
Whatever you have on earth is temporary, whether it is much or little. People struggle, work, strive and fight for worldly possessions, land, money, an inheritance, etc., and even while it is being obtained, it is fading away. It is like a wisp of smoke or a little mist in the air which will soon be dissipated, or like a small piece of ice on a hot summer day. Paul says “We brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out.” 1 Timothy 6:7. Let me urge you to cast your eyes on things eternal. The Psalmist asks the question, “Whom have I in heaven but thee? And there is none upon earth that I desire beside thee.” Psalm 73:25. Happy is the man who can truly say as our verse for today says, “The LORD is my portion.” Lord Jesus, dwell in my heart, and be my portion for eternity. Amen.
Commentary by Francis L. Harris
"...what must I do to be saved?" Acts 16:30
