Hebrews 5:9

And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him;

Jesus was shown to be perfect by completing the task set before Him by the Father; namely by His suffering on the cross and purchasing for us eternal salvation by His perfect and complete sacrifice. He came into the world to be a sacrifice for our sins, and He fulfilled His mission perfectly, thus becoming “the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey Him”; not those that have warm and fuzzy notions about Him, or that have sentimental ideas about Him, but those who obey Him; who receive Him as Lord and Savior and take up their cross and follow Him. “My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me, and I give unto them eternal life, and they shall never perish. John 10:27-28. Eternity is just around the corner.
