Proverbs 8:17

I love them that love me; and those that seek me early shall find me.

Many scholars believe that this is Jesus speaking in this chapter as Wisdom personified. God loves those that don’t stop their ears, and plunge headlong into sinful activities and relationships, but on the contrary, they embrace good counsel, take heed to godly admonitions, and avoid the allurements and pitfalls of sin. The sooner this is done, the better. “Those that seek me early shall find me” How it does the heart good to see someone at an early age become serious minded about the Word of God and the concerns of our eternal destiny. The time to call on God is before trouble comes, before you have made entangling relationships with the abandoned and ungodly. There is a wonderful promise attached. “They shall find me.” You will have found the “treasure hidden in the field,” you will have found Jesus, “the pearl of great price”.
