Psalms 27:1

Psalms 27:1
The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?
This old world lies in darkness; the darkness of sin and rebellion against God, against His authority, and against His Word. But the true disciple of Christ who is born again can say, “The LORD is my light”. When His light exposed the darkness of our path and the darkness of our sin, then Jesus spoke to us through his word and said, “I am the light of the world, he that follows me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life”. John 8:12. Thus, when we repented and believed the Gospel, (Mark 1:15), we were born again and His light flooded our hearts, chasing away the darkness of sin and rebellion. Notice in our verse for today the Psalmist says that the Lord is MY light. What good does it do ME if others have come to Christ and he is a Savior for them but not for ME? Don’t stop short by just saying that Jesus is light, but continue on until you can make it personal as it does in our verse, “He is my light and my salvation.” After you are truly converted, then you can complete the above verse and say, “whom shall I fear? The LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?”
