John 15:9

John 15:9
As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you: continue ye in my love.
I’ve read this verse many times, and could have quoted it from memory, and yet when reading it this morning, it struck me as a great mystery. Think of it! The love that Jesus has toward us is compared to the Father’s love for Jesus. Truly He has loved us with an everlasting love. As David said in Psalms 139:6, “Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is high, I cannot attain unto it.” When Jesus told the disciples that He loved them as the Father loved Himself, they must have looked perplexed, because he then told them that He loved them so much that He was going to die for them. He said, “Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.” But beware lest Jesus’ love be esteemed by you as a common, or unholy thing. We know Him who said, “Vengeance is mine; I will repay saith the Lord.” His love must be responded to. What is your response?
