John 15:17

John 15:17
These things I command you, that ye love one another.
After the last supper, Jesus gave his final discourse to his disciples, and love was the principal theme. In verse 9 of this chapter, Jesus said, “As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you: continue ye in my love.” Then verse 12, “This is my commandment, that ye love one another, as I have loved you.” It was said of the early Christians, “Behold how these Christians love one another.” What unites us as Christians is that we have the same guilt, the same need of a Savior, the same experience of falling at the feet of Jesus and receiving pardon for our sins, the same struggle with sin and temptation, and the same joy as we yield our lives to the Holy Spirit and let Him guide us, and the same joy at seeing His work grow and prosper, as others come to know our blessed Lord. We sing, “Blessed be the tie that binds our hearts together in Christian love,” and that tie is the one who said, “I lay down my life for my sheep.” John 10:15.
