Mark 1:17

Mark 1:17
And Jesus said unto them, Come ye after me, and I will make you to become fishers of men.
I believe that it was Charles G. Finney who said shortly after his conversion to Christ, “No activity or employment seemed so sweet to me, as to win souls to Christ.” Soul winning is what Jesus is referring to when he says, “Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.” Matthew 4:19. But how do we do this? The number one thing is not education, seminary, or degrees. These things are good; they don’t hinder,(usually). But the number one thing is to follow Jesus. He said, “Follow me, and I will MAKE you fishers of men.” Shortly after Pentecost Peter and the disciples were preaching and spreading the Gospel, and many souls were being saved, and the Pharisees took note and remembered that these ignorant fishermen who were now so bold and speaking eloquently of salvation, “had been with Jesus.” That was the key. That was the reason for their boldness and their success; they had been with Jesus; they had followed him. If you follow him, really follow him, he will qualify you, he will change you, he will give you boldness, he will give you love and compassion for the lost, and he will make you “fishers of men”.
Commentary by Francis L. Harris
"...what must I do to be saved?" Acts 16:30
