John 15:11

John 15:11
These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full.
There is a song that says “If you want joy, real joy, let Jesus come into your heart.” That is so true. The world promises pleasure, and gives pain. The world promises fulfillment and gives disappointment. The world promises joy, and brings sorrow. But in the verses preceding today’s verse, Jesus tells us the secret of true joy and blessedness, which is, to abide in Him; that is, walk with Him, keep his commandments, feed on His Word, speak to Him in prayer, and speak to ourselves in Psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs. He doesn’t just want you to not be sad; he wants your joy to effervesce, to bubble over and fill your heart. If you are sad, down in the dumps, and troubled, you need to come to Jesus, the only source of salvation and joy in this painful, sin-scarred, and troubled world, and let His Word dwell richly in you. Colossians 3:16.
