Psalms 145:20
The LORD preserveth all them that love him: but all the wicked will he destroy.
The Lord not only saves us when we repent and come to Christ, but he keeps us. Who knows how many unseen evils and tragedies the true Christian is delivered from? Who knows how often disaster has been averted by the hand of the Lord? This verse tells us who it is that is delivered and preserved by the Lord; “all them that love him”, that is, those who have genuinely come to Christ and received Him as Savior and LORD. This verse also refers to Spiritual preservation. Jesus said in John 10:28, “And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.” The second part of our verse tells us that he will destroy all of the wicked and unsaved. “The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget God.” Psalm 9:17. At present, the door of salvation is open and the Lord says, “Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am God, and there is none else.” Isaiah 45:22.
