Matthew 24:42
Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come.
A chick breaks its’ shell, hatches and looks around. “So this is life on planet earth.” As far as he knows, it has always been just the way it is, and it will continue so forever. 2 Peter 3:3,4 tells us that in these last days people are going to be saying and thinking, “All things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.” But this is not so. All things are transitory and in a state of flux. This is a rapidly changing world and the workings of our government, the world events, and the corruption of the age are all moving us toward Armageddon and the Apocalypse like an inexorable, scraping glacier moving down the valley, and carrying all before it; or I should say moving like the hoofbeats of the apocalyptic horsemen bearing down upon us. Versaday is like a “voice crying in the wilderness,” saying, “The end of all things is near, the Lord is soon returning, and the present world system will be dissolved.” Jesus said, “Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come.” To “watch”, as Jesus says here is to set your house in order, to live soberly and righteously in this present evil world by turning from sin and disobedience to faith and trust in Jesus, our Savior and redeemer, and the only hope for a sinful world. “Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come.”
