1 Corinthians 11:26
For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord's death till he come.
Chewing the wafer represents the crushing, tearing, and mangling of the body of Jesus, and the wine or grape juice that we drink represents the blood that flowed from His wounds. What better representation of His cruel crucifixion could there be? As we partake of the Lord’s Supper, we are to be focused on the horrible death and suffering of Jesus, and that only by this means could He pay the penalty and price of our sins. It was our sins that put Him on the cross. As we partake, we are to judge our sins, ask for pardon, and adore our precious Jesus who was wounded for our transgressions and bruised for our iniquities. Does this mean anything to you? It will someday. He said, this do in remembrance of me.
