2 Thessalonians 3:5
And the Lord direct your hearts into the love of God, and into the patient waiting for Christ.
Our hearts are bent toward self-pleasing, base desires and sinfulness and will not be turned from this toward God except by God’s grace; it requires the love of God shed abroad in our hearts to allow us to see the beauty of Christ, the necessity for His death, and the joy and blessedness of fellowship with Him. Further, it requires His grace to wait patiently for His glorious and triumphant return, which is everyday more imminent. Even so, come Lord Jesus.

Commentary by Francis L. Harris
