Proverbs 9:11

For by me thy days shall be multiplied, and the years of thy life shall be increased.

Chapters 8 and 9 of Proverbs are the ``Wisdom’’ chapters in which Wisdom is personified and speaks to us directly. Many believe that this is Jesus speaking. Be that as it may, we have a definition for Wisdom in the verse preceding our text: ``The fear of the LORD is the beginning of Wisdom’’. No matter how much education, no matter how many diplomas and degrees a person has, if he does not have a reverence and awe and love of God, He does not even have what we could call the mere beginning of wisdom; he hasn’t even finished spiritual kindergarten. True wisdom is to realize that we are responsible for our actions in this life, that we have amassed a great amount of guilt because of our sin and rebellion against God, that Jesus paid the penalty for our sins on the cross, and that if you give yourself to Christ, reverence and serve Him, you will add years to your life and LIFE to your years, while looking forward to an eternity in heaven; ETERNITY! Now that is multiplying your days, and increasing the years of your life indeed!
