1 Samuel 2:9
November 18
1 Samuel 2:9
He will keep the feet of his saints, and the wicked shall be silent in darkness; for by strength shall no man prevail.
If we walk with the Lord, He will keep our feet from falling in physical danger, and He will keep us from falling away from Christ. He will keep the feet of his saints. For those who do not know the Lord, it is quite different. They walk a dark path with many pitfalls and without any guidance; “they shall be silent in darkness”, but “The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord.” Psalms 37:23. This verse is from the prayer of Hannah at the birth of Samuel. She had been childless and with great anguish had called upon the Lord who graciously allowed her to bear a son. In this prayer of gratitude, she praises the sovereignty of God. It is He that determines the result of the battle; it is He that rules in the affairs of men; it is He who strengthens the weak, humbles the proud and gives grace to those that call upon Him. Many there are who fervently hope and desire that this world is ruled by chance and accident, but it will soon be manifest to saint and sinner alike, that God is on the throne, and rules the world in righteousness. Jesus is King of Kings and Lord of Lords. God says from heaven in spite of earthly rebellion, rage, and atheism; “Yet have I set my King upon my holy hill of Zion.’’ Psalm 2:6. Let us receive Jesus into our hearts while the door of Grace is still open!
