1 Timothy 4:8
For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.
Physical exercise is beneficial. It improves our health and enables us to do astonishing things. By all means do it. But the benefit we receive from PHYSICAL EXERCISE is miniscule compared to the blessings and rewards of GODLINESS to the spirit of man. Bodily exercise profits for the brief period of time we have in THIS world, but the rewards and blessings of a life of obedience and godliness are not only HERE AND NOW, but they also stretch on beyond the horizon into a long, long, unending ETERNITY. The “godliness” that is profitable for all things is a life lived honoring God, obeying Him, and loving Him for being who He is; the kindest, the most merciful, majestic and wonderful person in the universe; HIS universe. “He is thy LORD, and worship thou HIM.” Where do I start? You start by TRULY receiving Jesus into your heart by faith. Then you receive life; TRUE life, REAL life, ETERNAL life; true life here and now, and life in THE WORLD TO COME. Jesus said “I have come that you might have life and have it more ABUNDANTLY.” John 10:10.
