Amos 3:3
Can two walk together, except they be agreed?
An amazing fact is that God desires to dwell with us and to have fellowship with us. This is amazing. But the unfolding of the Old Testament reveals that from the very first It was God’s plan that we should have close fellowship and communication with Himself. God had Israel construct the tabernacle in the wilderness SO THAT HE COULD DWELL WITH THEM. There is just one problem. God is light and we are darkness. God is good and we are evil. But praise His name, He has bridged the distance between us by sending His Son to reconcile us to Himself, through His sacrifice on the cross. AFTER we repent and receive Jesus, we begin our Christian experience, and it is God’s will that we should be holy, as He is holy; that we should shun iniquity and walk in the light as He is in the light. Only by shunning sin and iniquity can we walk with God, and have sweet communion and fellowship with Him. “Can two walk together, except they be agreed”?
Commentary by Francis L. Harris
