Psalms 8:9

O LORD our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth!

The majesty and holiness of the Creator cannot be expressed and is worthy of profound awe and respect. We should not use His name lightly, and certainly not in swearing. One of the ten commandments is to honor and respect the name of the LORD by not taking it in vain. The same is true of His Son Jesus as Paul says in Phillipians 2:9-11 “Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
