2 Corinthians 3:17

Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.

Paul had been contrasting the Law of Moses with its’ restrictions, details and burdens, to the freedom and liberty of the believer’s life submitted to the SPIRIT OF GOD. Hence he says, “THE LORD is that Spirit,” thusly identifying WHICH Spirit he was talking about. The Christian life is not so much about rules and regulations as it is about RELATIONSHIP to God. When we love Jesus and want to please Him, we have very little need of A SET OF RULES. We simply submit to the leading of the Spirit, walk in the Spirit, and it naturally follows that we live so as to try to please the one who loves us, and gave himself for us. The Bible says that if we love Him, we will keep His commandments. “He that says I know Him and keeps not His commandments is a liar, and the truth is not in Him”, 1 John 2:4. Let us walk in love, obedience, and fellowship with God. Amen.
