2 Corinthians 4:8
We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair;
Christians are troubled on every side as we endure defamation and slighting for the Kingdom's sake. Jesus warned us that as His disciples we would encounter trouble and persecution. As our text states, we are perplexed; perplexed as we see the vast multitudes forcing their way toward an eternity without God and without hope; perplexed when we see our precious Savior spurned; perplexed when His offer of salvation and eternal life is refused. Even so we are not in despair; on the contrary, we rejoice in the Spirit, knowing that we have an eternal reward in heaven. We have the peace that passes understanding as we look away from the things of this world, and as we look to Jesus, the author and finisher of our Faith. Come quickly Lord Jesus.
