Psalms 18:3

Psalms 18:3
I will call upon the LORD, who is worthy to be praised: so shall I be saved from mine enemies.
David was determined to call upon God; let us do likewise. Some will not call upon God because they are sinners. They may say something like, “I am such a sinner; I just am not worthy to call upon God”. But it is precisely sinners that Jesus came to save. Or some feel that their case is too desperate; Jesus said that they that are sound and healthy have no need of a physician, but they that are sick. Some will not call upon God because they feel that they have failed; the Lord will give us strength. Some will not call on the Lord because everything is going well; this is the most dangerous and ominous of all, when you are living in sin and God seems to ignore you and to leave you alone. Your case is most desperate and I urge you to go into God’s presence and call upon Him until He hears you and gives you peace in believing in His Son Jesus. Finally, Christian; what a wonderful privilege we have to be able to go to the throne of Grace and call upon our heavenly Father! As David did, let us do so early and often.
Commentary by Francis L. Harris
