James 4:10
Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.
Read the poem MORTALITY by William Knox. It was Abraham Lincoln’s favorite and began with the words, “Oh! Why should the spirit of mortal (man) be proud?” As Paul the apostle said, “What do you have that you did not receive? And if you received it, why do you glory, as if you had not received it?” 1 Cor. 4.7. Therefore, “ He that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord.” 1 Cor. 1:31. Let us realize that we are but dust, and to dust we shall return, that we have nothing of our own but guilt and shame and that we deserve the eternal punishment that God has reserved for all that rebel against Him. However! Our heavenly Father has loved us with an everlasting love, and His Son Jesus drank the cup of punishment and shame to the last dregs so that we can have eternal life through believing in Him! Thank you Jesus. Amen.
