Nahum 1:7
The LORD is good, a strong hold in the day of trouble; and he knoweth them that trust in him.
God IS good. He is not a tyrant. He desires us to prosper if WE are good. He takes no pleasure in our frustration, disappointment or failure, but rejoices when we prosper and do well, as we acknowledge Jesus as our Savior, and walk in the light as He is in the light. He is a stronghold in the day of trouble; that is, a place of safety and security, as the world denies our Savior, drifts, (or plunges) toward socialistic dictatorship, financial chaos, and total, unbridled hedonism in which the flesh reigns and the only rule of conduct is self-will, or what do I want? Go to the LORD. He is a shelter, a hiding place and a stronghold. Go to Him as chicks shelter under their mother’s wings when the dark clouds produce rolling thunder. The LORD is good, a strong hold in the day of trouble. Praise Him, love Him, serve Him. Amen.
Commentary by Francis L. Harris
