1 Corinthians 3:11

1 Corinthians 3:11
For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.
Paul compares The Church (all the born again Christians) to an edifice or building. In his teaching he said that the foundation of this building is Jesus Christ; not some other religious figure, not a new teaching or doctrine, not our own good works, but Christ crucified for our sins, buried and resurrected and now at the right hand of the Father. The foundation for our faith is that Jesus died in our place, for our sins and there is no salvation in any other, for “there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.” Acts 4:12. I counsel you therefore to build a strong edifice, build on the bed rock of Christ crucified for our sins, and resurrected for our justification, and not to build on the shifting sands and changing opinions and doctrines of men. “Nothing in my hand I bring, simply to thy cross I cling.”
Commentary by Francis L. Harris
"...what must I do to be saved?" Acts 16:30
